MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 101

Welcome to the second century of Mystery Jam Mondays at Phish.net. As usual, we will be playing for an MP3 download, courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. The rules haven't changed: you need to correctly identify the song and the date to win. Post your guess in the comments. One guess per person per day (with the second “day” starting after I post the hint). A hint will be posted on Tuesday (if necessary) and the answer will be posted on Wednesday. Good luck...

Wednesday Answer: Pauly7917 was the first one in withthe12/14/95 "NICU." Congrats, Pauly. This was an easy one, of course, and for that reason, I'm half tempted to declare Rabeldy the winner for getting all meta on us and noticing the reason behind picking this particular MJ for 101... we're starting the second 100 the same way we did the first. See you all next Monday, where the MJ will not be from 2/16/03.

mcgrupp81 What Pauly said. I haven't listened to that in awhile but it sounds right. Could be part of the segue from Halley's but I don't think so.

WayIFeel Pauly is right, again.
Can we get another one? That wasn't even fun. Now what am I supposed to do for the next hour at my computer on my lunch break?
, comment by andrewrose
andrewrose That didn't take long.

bl002e Yeah, this is Phish 101. Almost literally (on LivePhish 01). Within 2-3 seconds, I (a) figured it out, and (b) figured there was no way someone hadn't gotten it in the 40 minutes it had been since being posted.

DanceTheJig728 It's not the NICU it's the Halley's from 12-14-95

DanceTheJig728 ^Nevermind hahaha

msgisgoodforyou wow, if that's true and the first guess got it immediately, don't you think it's time for a new game?

i mean, i love the concept but i'd love to see the stats for MJ over the first 100...how many did the MJ win? How many were won on Monday...before the hint, and how many were won after the hint on Tuesday...or Wednesday...how many were won by the same person...etc...
, comment by msgisgoodforyou
msgisgoodforyou okay...if it's not the NICU, i'd still love to see the stats...i'm just really bad at this game...

uctweezer Well to be more accurate it's the "-> " in the 12/14/95 NICU -> Slave, but damn that was fast! I hate Monday morning meetings on the West Coast because it seems like once a month the MJM is over before I even check!

Early bird catches the worm. I don't think the MJM needs to be eliminated when they want to throw a really easy jam out there once in awhile. I think if you really want to make it hard, you provide no more than a minute of a jam and pick something really obscure. It'd be cool if some more 92/93/94 gets played.

I made a MJM playlist in iTunes a while ago (Why, you may ask? Because I'm a total Phish geek like the rest of you!) and update it regularly. Only 24 of the 111* jams are from '92-94, and another 11 are from '95 if you forgot to mention that year. I think they do a great job of keeping it varied.

* 111 = 101 weeks + 5 extra for week 100 + 5 for the Hampton/W-S giveaway (which happened between MJM 76 and 77)

MiguelSanchez Well, when I see Pauly guessing 12/14/95 I know I'm only listening because i like the jam. Gotta throw a softball out there every now and then.

RabeldyNugs Guys, i think thw blog gave us this specifc not jam not because it was an easy one, for lets say a lot of us, but more so the blog picked this 12-14-95 pick in regards to their #1 MJM ever, the Halley's from this show played right b4 the NICU as we all know.

Who knows maybe next week will follow up their #2 MJM ever, the Piper from 2/16/03, be careful people...

Anyways, nice follow-up LBC to your 1st MJM ever, congrats again and thanks!

I was awake at that time, but I had meetings from 9 AM - 11 AM PT so I couldn't get here fast enough. But I would have needed a whileto figure it out anyway-- I recognized it as a Live Phish release from 94 - 96 but wouldn't have insta-answered so I can't complain too much... in the future I'll just make sure to plan my work schedule around the MJM ;)

MomaDan I'll be honest, when someone gets it that quickly it might be time to change up the game a little bit
