Ravinus I'm never going to complain about new Phish. I've got my 4 year old excited about the release.

noisyjon Wow. Not too impressed with the "video"...but am digging the song. All I can say is, Bob Ezrin is a master...a genius. Getting Roger Waters and David Gilmour to work together on "The Wall" was one thing...but getting Fishman to sing IN TUNE.....pure fucking genius. Can't wait to hear the rest of it. See ya'll at SPAC!

fromsliptofall I am glad they picked the brain of the art director from "Ghosterbusters II" for the video.

TwiceBitten After playing this through the nice speakers a few times I can honestly say this is the going to be the best recorded Phish album yet. How you feel about the songs is personal and subjective, but the production is unquestionably excellent.

Piper72 Officially referring to him from now on as E-Z Rin.

YorkvilleBeerLover I was there for it's debut. This version is over produced shit. The live version wasn't much better.

never mind..I notice now that the pink stuff keeps growing, and growing. Still, not much of a video, but I really do dig this song.

ArtieKay Seriously, guys in boats, you had more than enough warning to get the fuck out of the way.

larvalcraze Ambivalent music from great musicians.
, comment by WeatherReport
WeatherReport It definitely has the sound of a Bob Ezrin production. I'm hearing a distinct "Division Bell" sound to the mix. Which isn't a bad thing (IMHO), I don't think it's going to sound like any of their other albums. I'm very curious to hear the rest of the tracks, I like Waiting All Night.
, comment by RobesPierre
RobesPierre i think the video is the coolest part about this release.
, comment by Charlie_Dont_Surf
Charlie_Dont_Surf At first I thought, "who's making the guest appearance on vocals? It's not anyone from the band..." OH wait I forgot about Fish!

I think it sounds great!!

Allow time for the songs to develop. You may be happily surprised.

tasatter Yeah, so I don't love any of this new stuff since the Wingsuit set last year. But, I shan't be a hater. If newer Phish lovers want to love this stuff, that's cool. It's not the Phish for me, but I guess if it offends other fans if I criticize Phish for producing this, I'll just shut up about it. This strikes me as just like 1989 era Grateful Dead. They were on top of their performance game then, Jerry was fairly well, and everyone was happy. But if you asked the dudes who'd seen them in 1969 if they liked "Built To Last," they'd laugh at you or grimace. So it is again. 1994 Phish is more my cup of tea. Same 20 years gap. Different generation. One plea I'll make is that the younger fans not hate the haters so much. You can't get hung up on your identity being defined by the opinions of others. If older heads don't dig it and want to call it as they see it, it's not fair for you to lash back at them. I'll keep my opinions to myself, if you will. Peace.

NiccuIus @tasatter, been listening/seeing phish for a long while myself. 93-98 were magical years but that is an era past. either you live in the now or move on. So to say, "newer Phish lovers want to love this stuff," is inadvertently saying only newbs can like this stuff.....and you couldn't be more wrong. but you felt the need to express the elitist's go-to comparisons and examples we have all grown a custom to.
, comment by newbornelph
newbornelph I am REALLY diggin this one! I am excited to see if they take this out a bit. Maybe its my age, or maybe its the new & improved Cactus-bombs, but in 3.0 I have gained a new and frenzied love for Phish space-goo face-drip!!! (ie, Piper MSG '11)

Thank you for posting the most thoughtfully put together critique of something you don't enjoy. I happen to like it, but your point is solid and not petulantly thrown in my face. Good stuff.

, comment by lysergic
lysergic Really digging this. Very excited Phish is still making great music after all these years.
, comment by MLuckow
MLuckow It sounds ok. It's good quality but a bit uneventful. If I never heard it live it'd be fine with me. Hate on my assessment and say I only like their old stuff but you're wrong. I love sugar shack, ocelot until it got a bit redundant, twenty years later, even number line and show of life are starting to grow on me. I just personally don't think this exhibits any amazing songwriting or musicianship which we all know they are very capable of producing. Yes it definitely has a more mature sound about it. But even songs that kinda have a similar vibe like Moma Dance for example (which happens to be one of my all time favorites and I think is a very distinct phishy sound) has more going on with it. I have always been a fan of fish's vocals and was there we he attempted 50 ways to leave your lover and he actually is quite underrated in that facet. Also all four them have great voices when they are used to accompany and complement each other. Over all meh but it has potential and is kinda growing on me. And don't even try and compare this with fast enough for you or if i could i would. Those are some of the best and most beautiful songs song-writing-wise i've ever heard not just phish-wise. Love you all and long live phish. I definitely don't mind them writing new stuff even if I don't particularly enjoy it if it means that they are rejuvenated and plan on continuing to tour for all of eternity and longer.
, comment by cletus22
cletus22 kinda has a smaltzy early 70's leisure suit vibe to it.....after several listens and hearing the phishiphized elements I think........I like it. Video too is likable.
