MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 419

Welcome to the 419th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the first and easiest of June. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery clip. Each person gets one guess to start. As a sign of respect to and solidarity with tomorrow's Black Out, no hint (if needed) will be posted before Wednesday. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Thursday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Stay safe out there!

*Reminder: For the first MJM of each month, only folks who have never won an MJM are allowed to answer before the hint. If you have never won an MJM, please answer as a blog comment below. If you have previously won an MJM, but you'd like to submit a guess before the hint, you may do so by PMing me; once the hint has been posted, everyone should answer on the blog. If that's confusing to you, check out the handy decision tree that I threw together for you. If you're not sure if you've won before, check in the MJM Results spreadsheet linked below.

Hint:

Answer: I saw you! This week, @Chicken_Sub_In_Your_Hand led us all to Section 119 and checked everyone's status in the most remarkable way possible: winning his fourth consecutive MJM, and becoming the fastest ever MJM contestant to reach Emeritus status. The 25th MJM Emeritus capped off the first decaded of the Mystery Jam Monday series (!) by identifying the stunning passage from the 11/13/98 "Down with Disease." For his efforts, he'll receive Yet Another LivePhish Code, a framed photo of Jon Fishman's junk from 10/31/94, the rest of the toilet paper Trey didn't use when he ran off stage 4 years later in Vegas, registration of his fingerprints on the door to The Vault, and 2 unmarked pills: one full of psychedelics, the other full of the cure to COVID-19. Congrats to our first quarantinemeritus and most recent entrant into the MJM Hall of Fame! MJM420 and the 10 year anniversary of the MJM drops Monday.

kidrob I believe I’ve pinpointed the song but not the jam. Still looking for my first win, and I don’t have time to check various jams. One day I’ll win.

A_Buddhist_Prodigy I think @Chicken_Sub_In_Your_Hand should be dubbed the COVID King or Quarantine Queen as all of their wins have come during the Quarantine! Nice work!!

HarborSeal The 11/13/98 Disease is a sweet version. The first 12-13 minutes or so are basically in the box: strong, Type I jamming, energetic and creative, but about what you'd expect from a Disease from this era. Then the jam gets quieter, but not dull. This clip is from the beginning of the final jam, which is what really sets this version apart: it's a joyful groove that explodes triumphantly back into the main Disease theme. Glorious.

That show also has a terrific Wolfman's (with MLB jam), a strong first set closing Antelope, and an extended, laid-back Meat--longest ever version, I believe.

I'm glad to see this DWD get some love. I was at this show -- ever since that night, I have never been able to get this week's MJM out of my head.

uctweezer glad you guys enjoyed the clip! funny enough, the section right before the section I clipped for this week was the original clip I intended to use as the MJM this week - it's a tough to pinpoint section, and the quiet before the storm if you will (as @HarborSeal points out)

but when I went to clip it, I realized it was only around 30 seconds, and I kept listening - and the next section was so gorgeous that despite it being so obviously DWD, I just had to choose it because it sounded so good!

Just want to emphasize that the Meat is indeed super cool unique laid-back spacey Phish, well worth a listen if you haven't heard it (as are the other jams mentioned and the DWD itself of course, but the Meat really stands out as unique to me).
