History

Perhaps this will clear things up. Technically, there are three distinct entities called “Fluff’s Travels.” The first (and earliest), which appears on The White Tape, bears only a passing resemblance to the “Fluff’s Travels” that exists today. It is basically a bunch of effects and noises segueing out of Mike’s “NO2” outro, interpolating part of “Dave’s Energy Guide,” and closing with a brief, instrumental version of the “Fluffhead” intro. The second “Fluff’s Travels,” comprising the entire second track on disc two of Junta, refers to the 11-minute, 6-part composition that follows the opening three verses of “Fluffhead.” This 6-part piece first became a feature of the resultant 15-minute “Fluffhead” in late 1987, and includes “Fluff’s Travels,” “The Chase,” “Who Do? We Do!,” “Clod,” “Bundle of Joy,” and “Arrival.” To make it further confusing, “Fluff’s Travels” is also the name of the first individual part of the complete “Fluff’s Travels” (0:00-1:09 on Junta CD track 2). The only stand-alone appearance of "Fluff's Travels" (allegedly) occurred on 12/30/89. Unfortunately, tapes that circulate of that show do not contain the "Fluff's Travels," so we can't be sure which of the three entities were played that night (if any). Perhaps this hasn’t cleared things up at all.
